About Lovro Markovic

Lovro graduated in Medicine from the Medical University of Vienna (Austria). During his studies, he became increasingly interested in social influences on health and epidemiological monitoring of disease patters, which led him to the Centre of Public Health and The Community Health Lab/Grabovac Group. After finishing the basic training, Lovro started working at the Ministry of Health, where he is working on informing policy development and implementation of various public health interventions on national and EU-wide levels as applied to orphan diseases, cancer, and non-communicable diseases in general. Lovro is interested in the interplay of evidence generation, synthesis, policy informing, and its implementation, especially with regard to health equity. He is also passionate about mindfulness.

As health experts, we need a paradigm shift in our professions. Rethinking and diversifying the way we approach our challenges by engaging with the general public, as well as experts beyond the usual biomedical domains is crucial for achieving health equity for all.
